It is said that the it is often the smallest details that make something truly stand out. As it relates to The Lego Church Project? This is very true. While the outside builds are massive and impressive. The real story of my work often told inside. Every part that is included. Even the smallest points.
LEGO is impressive as a artistic medium. Though it can be challenging to work within the limits of what can be done. Even though I try and make things as realistic as I can. Though that can be difficult at times. Yet even those smallest details make this work unique and is what draws people to explore the more fun details.
From the way the altar and Tabernacle is set up. All the detail work that goes in to it. From the members of the parish who have disabilities. The wheel chairs, the power chairs, the people that have service animals. Those elements are what people see and will notice.
Yet many more details often get overlooked unless you’ve see the build progress photos that are often shared. The light switches. The details on the organ. To members of the parish that are based on people who I know. I even have flowers at the altar. Or the odd things that get children’s attention such as the game of “find R2D2” who is sitting somewhere inside.
While it would be easy to omit such things and no one would notice. The builder in me loves to add those some things. Every artist put something of themselves into their creations. The finer details like that are part of what I do. A reflection of my own thoughts and how important things should be. -
