When people see my work they don’t fully realize all that goes into it. Truth is a lot of thought and a lot of prayer is involved in these Project builds. Planning things out in ways most don’t even consider or realize. If you were to look at some of the photos I post, for the casual viewer it seems like a lot of unneeded chaos. Parts and elements scattered on the board. Constant building, taking down, and rebuilding sections at a time. None of it, of course, making any kind of logical sense other than “it’s messy and cluttered.”
From that chaos, however, exists some kind of mental plan. Though the roadmap is not always straightforward as it would seem. Ideas in my mind are flowing faster than the Saginaw River. With the builder having to make some kind of sense in the chaos. A lot of mental planning to visualize how things will go.
Each build a lot of time is spent on planning things out because each brick placed down will impact the rest of the build at some point. Along with even more time spent sorting for the various parts needed for each section. Constantly diving into the various bins and trays seeking out what is needed. In many ways it is not unlike how I pray. Trying to find solutions to existing problems. Often times having to dig into unexpected locations and get surprised when the answer was right in front of me all along.
Oddly enough I would say that the majority of my time with The Project builds is spent on sorting. Looking for the parts needed to finish the section. At times it can be slow and very time consuming. Yet it is an important step in the process. It creates a point that allows me to slow down. Gives my mind time to process what is going on. These builds can easily overwhelm me. The mind is like a computer and the task at hand can easily bog down the system. I try and break things down into smaller bytes so I can figure out each step. So while the sorting can be annoying and tedious, it does help the process.
At this point in the current Project build it is nothing but total chaos. A lot of bricks and parts scattered about with very little making any kind of dollars let alone any sense. Even for the builder who’s sitting down and Praying At The Bricks. -
