Halfway point

Writer's picture: JM KraemerJM Kraemer

The Lego Church Project it at the halfway point. For me this is always a fun time. In some rare moments the build can move faster for the second half. Or sometimes it can even be slower. I’ve already figured out how the upper half walls will look. With a lot of that pre-built in the first days of the build. Though their is always a chance I may make some design changes.

For the next few build sessions I’ll be spending time working on the rest of the interior for the upper balcony. Making adjustments to some stuff that I am reusing this year. Getting stuff roughed into place and make sure things look as well as they need to. Along with building the pews that will make up those sections. I’ll also be doing the test fit of the windows for all the sections and seeing if I need to order any extra parts. (In this case I did need to order some more).

At this point in the build not much else has been planned. I still need to figure out the stair case and the upper elevator door. Also have to come up with some kind of design for towers. Both for the interior and the main towers themselves later in the build.

Like so many things in these projects. I will move five steps forward and then twenty steps back. A normal part of the process. One of the few things that does not change from season to season.

The last few stages will be the hardest parts. Assembling the massive roof grid from a large collection of LEGO plates. Then adding Christmas Tree lights. Bricking everything in and then the road to the finish line. Some days I will be moving like the Enterprise at warp seven. Other days I’ll be moving like a golf cart trying to ride up I75 on a nearly empty battery. Yet though it all I’ll be doing what I’m known for. Praying At The Bricks. -
