A writer!?

To the people around me and on various platforms most know me as the guy who builds giant churches out of LEGO and talks about issues related to faith and disability with The Lego Church Project. Fitting since I've been at this for twenty-five years. While doing the builds and displays are extremely important. Over the years another element has entered into my work and has become a companion of sorts: My writing. It would surprise everyone here to know that outside of these spaces. Other than a select few, most in my home region don't even know that I write at all. Yet my writings have become an extension of my work with The Project.

The writing started ages ago on my personal Facebook account. I would share these semi articles and reflections about stuff going on around me. Most of it related to the faith and my role in it. People who followed me started making positive comments. Often saying that I have a great sense of wisdom. Also got a lot of suggestions that I should write some kind of book. I started the first blog of "Praying At The Bricks" as a way to collect the FB writings and to give me a place to share new content. The goal was to have a central location for my work to reside and that people who are not on FB can read what I'm thinking about.

Over the years I’ve done a fair amount of articles. Some of them have been shared by others. The writing allows me to take what I’m doing with The Project and expand on it. Putting focus on issues related to faith and disability. Along with reflections as it relates to my work. With my writing I am trying to share my thoughts that relate to the people around me. To allow them see the world though my own eyes. I seem to have an ability, or talent, to try and make sense of the world though the lens of disability.

Writing has become, for me, a true extension and another platform to explore the faith. It has also become an important part of my work. The overall goal of my writing is the same as The Project: To give hope to those facing their own kind of challenges. To give understanding of the faith though my own unique world view.

As I reflect on the last twenty five years I am always in prayer about what I am doing. May the Holy Spirit guide me in this journey. By the Grace of God I am still standing. -
